Termite Control & Removal

To remove these completely, we need to know what kind of termite it is. There are three types that are found in the Pompano Beach area:

  • Formosan Termite
  • Termite
  • Subterranean Termite

Formosan Termite

This type is very similar to the subterranean species. It is also mistakenly classified as flying ants because of its wings. If you notice wings on the floor or on your wall, you may suspect that you have this kind of pest.

Some of the signs that these are invading your property:

  1. Attraction to light (which is the cause of wings on that certain area).
  2. Hollow sound from wood.
  3. Gnaw marks on wood or wood shavings/grain on the floor.

Subterranean Termite

These can cause the most damage compared to other species. They build tunnels or what is usually known as mud tubes, to make their way inside your home or building.

Wood is their source of food, which is why they almost eat it 24 hours a day, non-stop. This also serves as their material in creating their mud tubes.

If you notice the following then it is safe to assume that you have termites living inside or outside of your house:

  1. Mud tubes or long tunnels that consists of wood and mud. Often found on the exterior of a foundation or home.
  2. Darkening, hollow, and soft wood inside of your home or building.
  3. Smell of the internal part of the structure is different from a normal house. This is because they use their feces as a tool to create nests.
  4. Discarded wings on the floors or walls.

Drywood Termite

Most of the house or business owners invaded by this pest, spend almost $5 billion in property damage each year. This is because they can chew every part of a home or structure, especially when it is made of wood.

Treatments and prevention used to eradicate this kind of termite includes gathering firewood or scrap wood and storing it 20ft away from home. They create colonies by chewing up wood to create holes and creep up inside your property.

The most effective way to prevent a termite infestation is to seal all cracks and cervices of your property.
